Jones is known for his book, ''Othello's Countrymen: A Study of Africa in the Elizabethan and Jacobean Drama''. He is a former principal of Fourah Bay College. ==Background== Eldred Durosimi Jones was born on 6 January 1925 to Sierra Leone Creole people parents. On his paternal side, Jones descends from the Nova Scotian Settlers, who were African Americans and the founders of Freetown.
